A Match Made In Utah

We like to say that we have been orbiting around each other for the past 12+ years. Having grown up in and around Louisville, we ended up with mutual friend groups, as well as remarkably similar music tastes. Between unknowingly being at the same shows and casually bumping into each other with friends, we shared a lot of overlapping moments in our lives. It’s no great surprise that eventually our paths would align again in 2022, putting Ramey and those mutual friends living in Salt Lake City at the same time. All it took was Evan making the trip out to visit, and a group game night in order to spark initial interest.

A Trip Home For Christmas

We went on our first date; a dinner at North of Bourbon. Over delicious boudin balls and old fashioned’s, we flowed effortlessly through conversation, never finding a lull. Magnetic forces had been set in motion, creating an irresistible pull toward each other that carried into the following year when we would both make multiple trips between Louisville and Salt Lake to spend time with each other. During the 9 months we spent dating long distance, we crammed as much adventure in as possible, while getting to know each other on a deeper level. This meant a LOT of phone calls.

My Old Kentucky Home

Ultimately knowing that we would have to change the long distance pattern for the relationship to carry on, Ramey made the decision to move to Kentucky in September of 2023 so that we could be with each other. Our minds had already been made up about wanting to spend the rest of our lives together, and in May of 2024 we became engaged after Evan proposed in Red River Gorge. We moved in together shortly thereafter and began building our new life, sharing countless experiences all while looking forward to the day where we stand at the altar and commit ourselves to each other for a lifetime.
